The Mountaineering Acoustics Network (MAN), launched in 2025 as part of the Mountaineering Acoustics Network & Terrain Lab Equipment
(MANTLE), is the world’s first not-for-profit initiative dedicated to defining and advancing mountaineering acoustics.
By combining frontier machine learning techniques with immersive outdoor field research, we champion the emerging field of mountaineering
acoustics and drive innovation in acoustic science for mountainous environments.

- March 2025 - Founded by Gewenxin Yu & Han Cui
Structure
Mantle Sound was originally founded by Gewenxin Yu and Han Cui. As of September 2025, Gewenxin Yu continues to lead the MAN network and Mantle Sound.
The MAN network (Mountaineering Acoustics Network) is a part of MANTLE Sound (Mountaineering Acoustics Network & Terrain Lab Equipment). All audio files will be released under the name of "MANTLE Program" and attributed to "MANTLE Production".
